A Flare Fireplace fitted with an invisible mesh safety screen

Features/Invisible Mesh Screen

Protected, without breaking the view.

Every Flare Fireplace ships with an invisible mesh safety screen — a barrier against the hot glass that all but disappears against the flame. CSA-tested and approved to prevent burns.

Standard on every unit

The fireplace glass and surrounding surfaces can become extremely hot during — and long after — operation.

Touching the hot glass can lead to serious burns, so Flare Fireplaces have been designed for and are installed with protective invisible mesh safety screens. All of our Flare Fireplaces have been tested and approved by CSA to ensure the safety screens and barriers are effective in preventing burns.

Why the Flare screen is different

The advantages of a Flare Fireplaces screen

01

Invisible mesh

The screen is an extremely delicate invisible mesh — so fine it is almost impossible to see against the flame, protecting without breaking the view.

02

Concealed frame

The screen frame is concealed inside the Flare Frameless Fireplace design. On corner units, only the vertical frame at the corner is visible.

03

Tool-free removal

The screen removes and reinstalls easily with no tools — cleaning takes moments, with no technician required.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does every Flare Fireplace come with a safety screen?

Yes. Flare Fireplaces are designed for and installed with protective invisible mesh safety screens, and all Flare Fireplaces are tested and approved by CSA to ensure the safety screens and barriers are effective in preventing burns.

Why does a gas fireplace need a safety screen?

The fireplace glass and surrounding surfaces can become extremely hot during and long after operation, and touching the hot glass can lead to serious burns. The invisible mesh safety screen is a barrier against the hot glass.

How long does the fireplace glass take to cool down?

Wait for the appliance and glass to cool down before allowing anyone to get near it — cool-down can take an hour or more.

Is there an alternative to the mesh safety screen?

Yes. Flare's Quick Touch Double Glass is a safety barrier with a crystal-clear view; its actively cooled outer barrier is designed to be safe enough for a brief touch.

Where can I find more fireplace safety information?

Always read the owner's manual, and review the HPBA glass-safety brochure and checklist linked in the resources above.
