Heat Release – Standard

What is Free Flow heat release? Free Flow is Flare’s natural-convection fireplace heat management system. It first draws room air in at the screen, or through a lower intake with double glass. Next, the air then rises into the fireplace cavity and exits as warmed air through an upper heat release. Alternatively, you can also design custom openings, or for a simpler option, use Flare’s paintable louvers to ensure a clean, code-compliant solution.

Duct Heat To Plenum

Why choose the Passive Heat Flex system? Passive Heat Flex is designed for those who want more options for framing and finishing material. It directs warmth away from the fireplace through ducts connected to a plenum. The system then recirculates heat back into the room through a louvered release. Overall, this approach safely disperses warmth and also lets you frame and finish in combustible materials. In addition, it allows a TV or artwork to be mounted just 12” above the glass opening, giving you flexibility in both design and safety.

Why choose Active Heat Flex? Active Heat Flex is Flare’s most advanced fireplace heat management solution. It channels heat through ducts to a monitored fan system, which then vents it directly outside. As a result, you can frame and finish in combustible materials without needing a heat release. This also means you can mount a TV or artwork as close as 12” to the fireplace opening. By actively controlling heat output, the system not only ensures comfort but also protects surrounding surfaces and electronics.
