• Exterior vent for Active Heat Flex heat management system on wood siding, gently exhausting fireplace heat outside.

Want to remove the heat release?

Active Heat Flex pulls heat at the fireplace and vents it outside, so there’s no heat-release opening to design around. Plus, combustible framing and finishes are allowed when clearances are followed. As a result, you keep clean lines and protect the room, all while maintaining the 12″ clearance to a mounted TV.

Active Heat Flex System equipped on a Flare

What is the Active Heat Flex system?

The system uses a temperature sensor and a continuously monitored fan to pull heat from the fireplace and move it outside. As a result, surfaces near the fireplace and it’s opening stay cooler.

Does the system require a heat release?

No heat release is required for fireplaces equipped with the Active Heat Flex system.

Can I frame in uncovered combustibles?

Yes. However, you must follow all clearances specified in the manual.

What are the basic clearances to wood framing?

Maintain 3″ to the sides and back, and 4″ above. In addition, verify any local code requirements.

Can I mount a TV above a fireplace?

Yes, as close as 12″ from the glass opening, regardless of size, style, or safety barrier.

Will I get heat into the room?

No. Because the monitored fan continuously moves heat outside, none is recirculated.

How loud is the monitored fan?

It’s similar to a bathroom fan. To minimize noise, mount it further from the fireplace.

Can I retrofit this on an existing Flare Fireplace?

Yes, provided there is access to the cavity and walls for the flex and the fan.

Is there an inline fan option?

Yes, you can also equip your system with an inline fan, but must develop access to the fan for future service.
