The relay uses a low-voltage signal to open and close, which in turn energizes the fireplace.

Yes, regardless of which safety barrier you select, the fireplace will always produce the same total amount of heat. What changes is how that heat is distributed into the room:

  • Screen Unit: 50% of the heat radiates directly off the face and through the screen, while the other 50% recirculates back into the room at ceiling level through the hidden heat release.

  • Double Glass Unit: 20% of the heat radiates off the glass face, while the remaining 80% recirculates back into the room through the hidden heat release.

You can also remove heat completely by using the Summer Kit. This can be connected to a wall switch, giving you control over when heat is removed, or wired directly to the unit for continuous heat removal from the space.
